FLYGA FLADDRA, 2018
» FLYGA FLADDRA 2018, Found box, paint, imitation gold leaf, light, found stand, Variable Dimension Re-purposing objects discarded in my local area, objects that I didn't understand, allowed me a brazen freedom to re-imagine their life as something grander. Elevating the status of the object to that of myth, endowing it with magic powers, became my intention for this sculpture and for my own circumstance. Reminded of Icarus, the kit is always there for purposeful flight, but the invariable reminder is to be careful of the suns power. Appropriating the Swedish language, I explore the re-contextualization of foreign words, nodding toward our furniture buying habits and desire to flat-pack our lives.
