To arrive into a new country from a different cultural background creates an internal conflict. Through the fusion of two cultures comes a strong desire to place oneself in the world. Those who choose to leave ones country also choose to leave the accustomed life of routine and recognised symbols, to enter a new arrangement, a paradigm shift that jolts the notion of identity itself. This 'non-place' evokes moments of suspension, where identity is placed in a temporary holding point, where patterns and notions can be questioned, eradicated, wiped clean, rebuilt.

Landscapes stimulate emotions such as nostalgia and longing , and collage embodies this feeling of displacement, uprooted, standing in a place of representation. Using photographic and magazine imagery I explore symbolic notions of identity through fragmented memories and cinematic scenes. Within these conscious moments where identity can be reconstructed, the past, present and future collide.
